What is Power of Attorney?
A Power of Attorney is the means by which you can appoint someone you trust to act on your behalf if you become unable to administer your own affairs through mental or physical incapacity.
It is usual to appoint a relative or close friend as your attorney – you can appoint more than one person to act if you wish – and by doing so they will be able to manage your finances and property in your best interests, make decisions according to your wishes in respect of any medical treatment or care needs and so on.
A Lasting Power of Attorney has to be registered at Court before your attorney’s can act on your behalf.
