The receipt of the Grant of Probate enables the executors of the Will to deal with the estate of the deceased – to sell or transfer their property, to close bank accounts etc, pay the taxes and ultimately to distribute funds in accordance to the Will.

If a relative dies without a Will this can also complicate matters. A lack of a valid Will means you have died Intestate and the Rules of Intestate dictate who will benefit and who is entitled to be the administrator.
